The Works of Sculptor Constantin Brancusi at MoMA

A New York resident, Samantha Levine has worked as an elementary teacher since 1998 after completing her bachelor of arts at Brooklyn College. While being a teacher is her true calling, Samantha Levine is also passionate about the arts, with the Museum of Modern Art as one of her favorite places to visit.

Established in 1929, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) is an art museum located in Midtown Manhattan. MoMA organizes exhibitions and art events throughout the year, including the current showing of Constantin Brancusi sculpture, which is open to MoMA visitors until February 18, 2019.

Constantin Brancusi was a Romanian-born painter, sculptor, and photographer who moved to Paris in 1904. Considered one of the pioneers of modern sculpture, Brancusi is known for working directly from wood, stone, and bronze instead of clay. His characteristic use of clean geometrical lines is evident in his art from the bases of his works to the subjects of his sculptures. Among his famous works is the bird in space series, which can be seen on the museum's second floor. The exhibit also features the first version of Mlle Pogany and the Endless Column, pieces completed in 1913 and 1918, respectively.
